Dont Do This In The Bathroom

The bathroom is one of the most dangerous rooms in your home. This is because it has a slippery floor, multiple water sources and electrical outlets. While all of these factors can add up to a bathroom tragedy, most accidents are not simply caused by having all of these things located in
one room. Instead many bathroom accidents are caused by doing inappropriate or foolish things in the bathroom.

What Not to Do #1 - Overload the Outlets

The first thing that you don't want to do in the bathroom is to overload the outlets. This creates several hazards. First of all it creates a fire hazard at the outlet. You can quickly overload the bathroom circuit by trying to plug in to many styling and hygiene tools into your bathroom outlet. This overload can also lead to electrocution and shock hazards. Finally, if you try to get too many things into one outlet you can end up with a tangle of cords and heated devices that can fall into the sink, toilet or bathtub, that can fall on your skin and burn you or that can fall onto a surface in your bathroom and start a fire.

What Not to Do #2 - Run

Don't run into your bathroom. You can easily slip on a rug or on the floor and fall to the ground. This can lead to head, joint and muscle injuries.

What Not to Do #3 - Overcrowd Your Bathroom

It is not a good idea to have too many people in your bathroom at once. This is because it increases the chances that something will get knocked over, someone will lose their balance or that an injury will occur. This is particularly true of small bathrooms. Generally, one person at a time is the best policy for a bathroom.

What Not to Do #4 - Cook

This may sound gross, but you don't want to cook in your bathroom. By this I mean you don't want to fill bowls with water, wash off produce in your bathroom or even walk into the bathroom when mixing or preparing food. This is because the bathroom has a unique ecosystem of bacteria that can be dangerous if introduced to food items. Some of these bacteria are airborne, while others need surface contact.

What Not to Do #5 - Shake Hands

When you meet someone in a public restroom that you know you generally don't want to shake hands unless you both have just washed your hands. The door coming into the bathroom and the faucets themselves are swarming with bacteria and germs. If you shake hands with someone in a public bathroom you take the chance of contaminating your hands with germs transmitted by everyone that has used the bathroom before you.
